The Ministry of Natural Resources has lifted a restricted fire zone as of Friday, June 13th @ 12:01am.
The MNR is reminding us that “Lifting the RFZ does not mean we can let our guard down when it comes to preventing human-caused fires. We all need to remain vigilant and keep safety top of mind when having outdoor fires.”
At time of update (June 12th) there were 21 active wildland fires in the region with 7 under control, 1 being held, 5 not under control and 8 being observed.
The City of Kenora has also lifted their city wide fire ban with burn permits being reinstated while a municipal fire ban REMAINS IN EFFECT for Sioux Narrows/Nestor Falls as of Friday (June 13th).
The Fire Danger rating for Wauzhushk Onigum First Nation & Kenora is currently at High (Yellow).
