Niisaachewan First Nation (Dalles) and surrounding communities are mourning the loss of Chief Lorraine Cobiness.
Winning her ninth term as Chief last year, Lorraine was a true leader and a shining light in life and leadership for her community and made significant contributions in Treaty #3 Territory over her tenure.
On behalf of Chief, Council, band and community members, of Wauzhushk Onigum First Nation we send our thoughts, prayers and condolences to the Cobiness family and friends as well as all band and community members of Niisaachewan First Nation.
Funeral Services for Lorraine will be happening on Monday, November 17 and Tuesday, November 18, 2025 according to the Nation. The Niisaachewan First Nation admin offices will be closed until Wednesday, November 19th, 2025.
