Health Canada has issued a recall on a soap product from Lake of the Woods Sunrise Soap. The product is the Shades of Grey bar sold in 16g, 67g, and 135g, sizes.
If you have this product stop using it immediately, dispose of it and contact Lake of the Woods Sunrise Soap for a replacement.
Health Canada states the recall was issued because “the product contains Methyl Eugenol above the maximum concentration outlined in cosmetic ingredient hotlist which is prohibited as a pure ingredient due to the potential for carcinogenicity but is permitted as a naturally occurring component in botanical extracts with specific limits depending on the product.”
Lake of the Woods Sunrise Soap has stated in a Facebook post that Bay Oil which is an essential oil used in the soap has lead to the recall of the product and been added to the Health Canada hotlist.
