Exciting news to help revive the Jordan’s Prinicple program.
The Government of Canada is announcing $1.55 Billion in new federal funding to renew the program till March 31st, 2027. The funding will go to give first nations children support to essential services and programs for health, education, mental health, therapy and more.
Minister of Indigenous Services, Honourable Mandy Gull-Masty said in a release:
“Children are at the heart of who we are as First Nations. Jordan’s Principle must work for those who depend on it. By committing $1.55 billion over the next year, we are reducing uncertainty and strengthening stability for communities. We will continue working with First Nations leadership and families to ensure Jordan’s Principle remains predictable, practical, and grounded in fairness and respect.”
Wauzhushk Onigum’s Jordan’s Principal program will be preparing a group application for nutritional needs.
