Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate following an incident in Kenora.
A 39-year-old man was fatally shot. On Monday, March 9th around 6pm, Kenora OPP responded to a disturbance at a residence in the Ena Lake area.
A male was armed with an edged weapon and when police arrived on scene they tried communicating with the individual. During an interaction, officers discharged Tasers. Multiple officers shot their firearms at the man. EMS responded and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
No further information will be released, and the SIU have taken over the investigation and ask anyone with information to call 1-800-787-8529.
