The Kenora and Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation has hit a milestone for local healthcare in Kenora.
In 6 years, the annual Par 3 Charity Challenge Golf Tournament has surpassed 1 million dollars in fundraising.
This year’s tournament raised $203,822 alone which supports medical equipment at the hospital.
“This tournament continues to exceed every expectation,” said Mira Trebilcock, Executive Director of the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation. “Reaching more than one million dollars raised in just six years is an incredible milestone and a testament to what our community can accomplish when we come together. Every golfer, sponsor, volunteer, donor, and supporter has played a role in strengthening healthcare for families across our region.”
Over the existence of the Par 3 Challenge, the funds raised have helped fund numerous pieces of essential medical equipment throughout the Lake of the Woods District Hospital, including a fetal heart monitor for the Maternity Unit, a digital mobile X-ray machine for Diagnostic Imaging, 15 stretchers for the Emergency Department, significant support toward the purchase of an advanced mammography unit, and two anesthesia machines for Surgical Services.
The funds from this years tournament will go towards the purchase of a ultrasound machine for the diagnostic imaging department.
