The Ontario Provinical Police are offering another $50,000 reward as they continue to look for details in the 1995 death of 19 year old Evaline (Evaleen) Cameron of Wabaseemoong.

She was located deceased after a missing person report was released on Thursday, October 19, 1995 at approximately 3:00 p.m. outside in the bush line off Helipad Road. Evaleen was last seen alive at a residence on Tuesday, October 17, 1995, at approximately 11:50 p.m.

From the OPP:

Evaleen is one of the missing and murdered Indigenous Peoples whose case continues to be investigated by the OPP to find answers for their families. The cases are listed in the Missing and Unsolved Murdered Indigenous People (MUMIP) report, available at opp.ca/mumip.

The OPP North West Region Crime Unit is continuing the investigation, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. Assistance was provided by the OPP Forensic Identification Services and the OPP Emergency Response Team.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is encouraged to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or ontariocrimestoppers.ca.

“It has been nearly 31 years since Evaleen’s tragic death. Even after all this time, one piece of information can make a significant difference in helping us provide long-overdue answers to her family, who have lived with this loss for decades. We hope the reward encourages anyone who has been reluctant to come forward to do so now.”

– Detective Inspector Ryan GORDON, OPP CIB
