Newly elected Wauzhushk Onigum Councillor John Skead is focused on addressing Wauzhushk Onigum’s dog roaming issue after another incident involving a member being bitten by a loose dog.
In a statement released “in accordance with the animal control bylaw (the bylaw) passed by chief and council, all owners are required to ensure their dog is not running at large in the community, and when the dog is in a public place within the community, the dog must be under control and leashed.”
Owners who don’t abide by these bylaws could face fines and further fines could be issued if dogs running at large bite a community member or other animals.
The full press release is posted above.
