As announced from Anishinaabeg of Kabapikotawangag Resource Council Inc. they are reminding all community members that walleye season is closed from April 14, 2026 to May 16, 2026.
This is to protect walleye as they are considered vulnerable during spawning season. This period is closely monitored and the AKRC ask you to do your part in protecting our waters and respecting the closure.
You can contact fisheries@akrc.on.ca for more information. Please be careful around rivers, creeks and bays as this is where the walleye like to spawn.
